Oxford University Press is a global, mission-based education and academic publisher, which is a department of the University of Oxford. It is the largest university press in the world employing 6,000 staff globally with offices in 50 countries. Our mission is to further the university’s objective of excellence in research, scholarship, and education by publishing worldwide. We have three divisions: Education, English Language Teaching and Academic. ISC Research has been working closely with the international side of the Education division.

The International department of Oxford Education sells an integrated offer of print and digital resources and services into international schools. We cater to different international contexts and publish for schools following different curricula, so we have resources aligned to English National Curriculum, and we have Cambridge, International Baccalaureate, and OxfordAQA publishing lists. Professional development is also a strong part of our offer

The new Oxford International Curriculum is an integrated offer encompassing resources, curriculum materials, assessment and professional development, while OxfordAQA, our partnership with UK assessment experts AQA, is an international exam board offering international GCSE and A-level qualifications. Though benchmarked to rigorous British curriculum standards, OxfordAQA qualifications are designed specifically for an international audience, giving every student the best possible chance to show what they can do.

Why international schools are important

The international schools market is hugely important to us. There is a lot of growth and opportunity in this area, especially in English as a medium of instruction, so we are increasingly publishing more resources, and marketing and selling into this sector. We have developed a strong international school customer base in markets like UAE, India and China.

International school market support from ISC Research

OUP have been using ISC Outreach for a few years. In Marketing, we use the contacts portal to achieve a greater and more targeted reach to our email campaigns. Similarly, in our research team, we use the portal to mine contacts for our research surveys. And in Global Partnerships, we use the list of global school groups and new schools as part of our research to feed into our pipeline and strategy.

ISC Research webinars and events are valuable to us for current market insight, highlighting opportunities and staying close to school needs, helping to inform our marketing decisions and strategy. The ISC Research country reports, the Global Report, and the white papers and specialist reports support our own market research and feed into our strategy.

These resources help us to build a complete picture of the markets we serve and help us to identify opportunities to serve them better. The information is also valuable for our product development teams when measuring the commercial opportunity and risks associated with potential projects and publishing.

What we value about ISC Research

We really value the work ISC Research does. You’re on the front line of the international schools market. ISC Research’s expertise and deep knowledge of the international schools market is extremely valuable, and your data, trends and insights are high quality and current.
