The inaugural Festival of Education in Thailand, set to be hosted at Wellington College International School Bangkok on Saturday, 18th November, is a landmark event for educators across the region. The Festival is an extension of the esteemed UK-based event and embodies the ethos of Wellington College’s commitment to educational excellence. It provides a unique opportunity for teachers to immerse themselves in a day of learning, networking, and professional growth.

This year’s event boasts over 40 sessions, curated to inspire and challenge educators from various backgrounds. The festival keynote, delivered by Jassa Ahluwalia, a British actor, writer, and filmmaker, is a testament to the event’s calibre. Jassa’s keynote, titled “Both Not Half: Fostering Belonging in a Divided World,” draws from his experiences and the viral sensation he created in 2019 with his comedy video speaking Punjabi. His mixed British-Indian heritage and the subsequent #BothNotHalf campaign underscore the festival’s inclusive spirit and focus on fostering a sense of belonging in today’s divided world.

Another highlight is Edward Watson from InnerDrive, who will share his expertise on Cognitive Science, and Stuart Kime from Evidence Based Education, who will lead sessions in the Great Teaching Strand. These sessions are a nod to the festival’s commitment to evidence-based educational practices and cognitive development in learning.

Teachers from prestigious international schools in Bangkok, such as Harrow International School Bangkok, Rugby School Thailand, International School Bangkok, and St. Andrews International School, will contribute to a diverse range of sessions. This collaboration across international institutions in Bangkok underscores the festival’s aim to build a community of educators who are collectively invested in shaping the future of education.

The Festival of Education, originally a Wellington College UK initiative, has expanded its reach to Thailand, bringing with it a reputation for fostering innovation in education. It’s not just an ordinary conference; it’s a confluence of thought leaders, educators, and practitioners. With a history of attracting over 5,000 educators and 300 speakers in the UK, the festival’s Thai edition is poised to become a significant educational event in the ASEAN region.

Beyond the sessions, the festival is a place for educators to find their inspiration. The tagline, “Where those who inspire find their own inspiration,” encapsulates the event’s core philosophy. Educators will not only exchange ideas but also experience the joy of learning in an environment designed to be as engaging and fun as the learning experiences they aim to create for their students.

This collaboration between Wellington College International School Bangkok, Wellington College, Wellington College International and Lsect reflects a global partnership in educational excellence. As the Festival of Education takes root in Thailand, it stands as a beacon for professional development and educational innovation. With its diverse sessions, esteemed speakers, and commitment to an inspired learning community, the Festival of Education in Thailand is an event not to be missed by educators who are passionate about their craft and committed to making a difference in the lives of their students.

Tickets are available via the Festival website and costs as little as ฿2,250 – $65.
