The International School Awards 2023 are now open for nominations. The closing date for this year’s applications is Friday 8th July. Not only are the awards a chance to share and learn from innovative practice, but shortlisted and award-winning schools receive an award logo, extensive recognition of their initiative, and winners receive a prestigious trophy.

Categories within the International School Awards recognise the leading trends in practice within the world’s international schools sector and, as a result, vary from year to year. This year there are ten categories to recognise initiatives being implemented by international schools:

  • Community partnership: recognising international school initiatives that involve students as community partners working in collaboration with an external group to develop impact in the community.
  • Wellbeing: to recognise initiatives that support the wellbeing of international school stakeholders, including the pastoral care of students.
  • Safeguarding: for initiatives that support safeguarding within international school communities.
  • Innovation and creativity in learning: for initiatives that support students in future thinking and creative innovation.
  • Digital technology in learning: to recognise initiatives that involve digital technology to support student learning in ways that include the development of their digital responsibility.
  • Diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice: to recognise international school initiatives that support their strategic journey towards DEIJ.
  • Future pathways: for initiatives that are preparing students with the skills and/or values that will support their future pathways.
  • Sustainability: to recognise initiatives that support international schools in achieving a sustainability ethos.
  • Ethical values education: for initiatives that support students in their development of ethical values which encourage them to think and act as global citizens
  • Strategic leadership: to recognise initiatives that have been collectively spearheaded by an international school leadership team, senior leadership team, or governing body.

Shortlisted and winning schools will all be recognised, and an overall International School of the Year for 2023 will be selected from the winners of the individual category awards.

This year’s judging panel includes new judges, Polly Akhurst, Kristina Madsen, and Monica Perez Bedmar. Judges will select shortlisted and winning schools based on clear criteria to ensure that all international schools of all types and sizes are considered equally.

All international schools can apply. Applications are now open until Friday 8th July 2022. Shortlisted schools for each category will be announced during the week of 3rd October 2022. A virtual awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday 24th January 2023 with shortlisted schools sharing their successful initiatives during the week of 16th January.

The International School Awards, which are hosted by ISC Research and supported by International School Leader Magazine, aim to share rigorous and innovative practice occurring within the world’s international schools market.
