INITIATIVE

Details and eligibility

This award will recognise a school initiative that supports students in future thinking and creative innovation. Evidence should include a clear statement of how your initiative has gone beyond what the school would be doing as an effective international school. 

Your application must focus on how and why one initiative is impacting your school including:​

  • How and why the initiative has encouraged students in lateral thinking for a specific purpose

  • How and why the initiative has made a positive impact on student learning, demonstrating the potential for longer-term development as a sustainable initiative for the school

  • How and why the initiative demonstrates student commitment and a rigorous process for effective learning

  • How and why the initiative has addressed a challenge or opportunity in a way that has directly impacted the school and demonstrates the potential for longer-term development as a sustainable initiative for the school

  • How and why the initiative includes strategies that enable it to be shared beyond the wider school community e.g. with other international schools and/or could be used to help bring about best practice in their local educational communities (evidence of this could include visibility of the initiative on a public website, public access YouTube videos, community engagement, conference or workshop presentation, publication in publicly accessible media)

       

      EVIDENCE

      Evidence requirements

      Five photographs. Photographic evidence must be limited to five photographs only. Each photograph must be supported with an explanatory caption.

      One 30-second video. Your video should explain/show your initiative including evidence of its success within the criteria required.

      PROCESS

      How to apply

      Please refer to our guidelines for full details. A maximum of three applications can be accepted per school, and each of your applications, up to a total of three, must be from a different category. Applications can be submitted until end of day on Thursday 30th September 2021. Each application must include:

      This award will recognise a school initiative that involves students working with external groups to help build stronger community connections.

      This award will recognise a school initiative that supports school community wellbeing including the pastoral care of students.

      Digital technology in learning

      This award will recognise a digital technology initiative that has had impact on student learning and which includes evidence of developing digital responsibility as part of the initiative.

      Diversity, equity, inclusion and justice

      This award will recognise an initiative that has had genuine impact on the entire school community. 

      Environmental

      This award will recognise a school initiative that involves students working with external groups to help build stronger community connections.

      Ethical values education

      This award will recognise an initiative that supports students in their development of ethical values which will encourage them to think and act as global citizens. 

      Innovation and creativity in learning

      This award will recognise a school initiative that supports students in future thinking and creative innovation. 

      International impact

      This award will recognise a school initiative that demonstrates how international education and the school ethos have had a positive impact within the locality and/or on a global scale. 

      Pathways to continued and university education

      This award will recognise how an initiative supports students in preparing them with the skills and selection process for best fit future study that includes continued education and lifelong learning.

      Safeguarding

      This award will recognise a school initiative that supports safeguarding within the school community, which may include security and radicalisation.

      Strategic leadership

      This award will recognise an initiative that has been collectively spearheaded by a leadership team, senior leadership team or governing body. 

      Teaching and learning

      This award will recognise a subject-specific or whole-school initiative that has supported teaching and learning to the benefit of the students.

      International school of the year

      This award is selected by the judges from one of the winners of the 12 individual categories.
